STEVEN ZENG

Steven Zeng is a Director of Photography (DP) based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Steven has been actively involved with UC Berkeley's CAP Studios – America's largest student-led film studio – serving as a general member and holding board positions.

Steven's passion for filmmaking began in his teenage years when he moved to New York and worked as a grip and assistant camera operator alongside his older brother John Zeng, who is an established commercial DP. This experience ignited his interest in cinematography and led him to pursue various roles in film production.


As a DP, Steven has an extensive portfolio that includes narrative films, music videos, and commercial projects. Some of his notable works are:


  • Feature Narrative: Land's End (2025) – Director of Photography

  • Short Narratives: Everything You Can Be (2024), Death and Other Sentences (2024), and AOS: Overgrown (2023) – Director of Photography

  • Music Videos: Fiat Lux by John Cabacungan (2023) and Ghost Me by Rajat Sarkar (2022) – Director of Photography

  • Commercial/Spec Projects: Etsy: Moving In (2024) and Cal x Nike (2023) – Director of Photography


Additionally, Steven has directed and shot documentary projects such as A History of Chinese Cinema (2023).
